About me

I'm in Electrical Engineering at Waterloo (co-op) and I spend most of my time on boards, microcontrollers, and figuring out why something only works after the third rework.

Lately that's been an internship at NewGen Health, helping out on the electrical side of UWaterloo Orbital, and a bunch of my own stuff at home: an ESP32 room sensor setup (it live-updates on this site), a fuzz pedal I actually use, sumo bots, and whatever PCB I am messing with next.

Outside school I am usually soldering something, 3D printing a part, or tweaking a circuit until it sounds right. Happy to chat about projects or swap ideas if you are into hardware too.

Projects

Selected builds: what I did, what improved, and how I got there.

Current project

ESP32 Geiger Counter PCB

What I am working on right now: an ESP32 Geiger counter PCB in Altium with charging, regulation, sensor interfacing, and high-voltage subsystem connections.

Planning validation tests for power rails and subsystem integration before assembly and firmware bring-up.

IoT · ESP32

Environmental Monitor

Delivered live environmental readings on this portfolio by building an ESP32 sensor node and transmitting data over Wi-Fi to a custom API.

Improved system reliability by debugging pin mapping, analog readings, and API behavior during firmware integration.

Live sensors

Loading live data…

Verilog · UART

UART + FIFO Transceiver

Built a synthesizable UART TX/RX system in Verilog with an 8-entry synchronous FIFO, baud timer, and self-checking loopback testbench.

Verified end-to-end byte transmission with Icarus Verilog simulation and GTKWave waveform debug.

Fuzz Pedal

Fuzz Pedal

Shipped a working guitar fuzz pedal with tone and volume controls by designing the schematic/PCB in Altium and iterating through prototyping.

Published a build guide so others can follow the circuit, component choices, and assembly steps.

Sumo Robot

Sumo Robot

Built a reliable autonomous sumo robot for demos by integrating sensors and an SN754410 driver on a custom PCB.

Programmed an ATmega328P in C++ for PWM motor control and sensor-based behavior, then debugged hardware and firmware across iterations.

RPS Game PCB

Rock-Paper-Scissors Game (ATtiny85 PCB Project)

Delivered a playable RPS game on a custom PCB by designing the schematic in ExpressSCH/ExpressPCB and soldering the full assembly.

Programmed an ATtiny85 in C++ for random outcomes and LED feedback, with hands-on hardware/firmware debugging.

Delirium Prevention

Hospital Delirium Prevention Device

Built a patient-movement monitor for Grand River Hospital by combining an ESP32, BLE, and an IMU to detect activity and trigger alerts.

Focused on a practical wearable-style prototype that could support delirium prevention workflows on the ward.
